· Surgical site will be cleaned and draped
· Incision is made in the low back area or the back of the neck.
· X-ray is used to determine the correct level of the surgery.
· The tissue, most commonly bone and ligament, which is compressing on the nerve(s) is removed.
· At times, it is necessary to stabilize the spine after decompression. Your spine doctor will speak to about it before hand at time of you visit to the clinic.
· It usually takes approximately 2-3 hours.
